Cheshire East Council fits solar panels to buildings

Work has started to fit solar panels to the roof of Cheshire East Council’s Westfields offices.

The cost of the installation is just under £50,000 and the council estimates it will be paid back within six and a half years.

Installation work is expected to be finished on November 18.

The chairman of the Cheshire East Energy Ltd company, Cllr Ron Menlove, said: "This is significant move by the Council to adopt renewable innovations that reduce our costs and provide maximum value for residents.

“We are considering other buildings in the portfolio that meet the suitability criteria for similar technology.”
