Dorset group launches last minute share offer

A local group backed by Dorset County Council is offering investors the chance to help provide solar panels for school and community centres.

Dorset Community Energy has launched a £350,000 share offer, which will close on 26 November.

This share offer will provide free solar panels for seven schools and Bridport Arts Centre.

The panels will provide free or low-cost electricity for the buildings, worth a total of £400,000 over a period of 20 years.

The amount a person can invest is from £100 up to a maximum of £50,000.

“Due to changes in Government policy this share offer will be the last opportunity for qualifying tax payers to receive an initial 30 per cent tax rebate on their investment through the Enterprise Investment Scheme,” said Society Secretary, Pete West.

“This scheme will be closed to all energy projects after 30 November. To allow time to issue the shares this offer will close on 26 November.”
